On the 15th of October, we attended DS Brussels Fashion Days: a 3 days fashion festival introducing Belgian designers and artworks. For this 5th season, the event took place in Square-Brussels Meeting Center at Mont des Arts where many fashion related activities were programmed. So here's our review of this wonderful day spent at BFD!
This event is a great opportunity for designers and fashion schools to promote their work and to grow their network. As for the non fashion related public, like us, BFD was clearly a rewarding experience. We maybe are not fashion students, nor related in any way to the fashion world, but that doesn't stop us for enjoying the event to the fullest. Of course, ticket prices differ regarding the activities you want to attend. But for students like us, the pricing were pretty affordable. We chose the 8 euros (Saturday) day ticket wich included the access to the street school and pop-up stores, and the afternoon catwalk. For 8 euros, this is already amazing, right? :D

So we went there for the opening at 14:30. There was already such a long queue, but on this sunny day we didn't really mind waiting outside. Plus, the view was really nice: not only Brussels Monts des Arts was pleasing to the eyes, but even seeing all those fashion enthusiasts waiting in stylish outfits was such an inspiration to us!

After entering, we discovered that the event extended on 3 floors. On the ground floor, we had the reception, a bar and a Zalando photobooth. The first activity we went to is of course the fashion stands that were located in the basement. It was very dark in there, but they really give the place a romantic kind of dreaming place with a pink colored background and neon cloth to separate those stands. Many of their partnerships were present such as Filigranes, a famous library in Brussels, and DS automobiles.
Then we visited the street schools. The creations were so mind blowing and the students were really friendly and open to talk about their own experience and inspirations. Here are a couple of examples.

Much more schools were present that day, such as La Cambre, Francisco Ferrer, EPS Saint-Luc & Chateau Massart Mode.
But then, we visited the pop stores street where designers and brands showcased their latest collection and artworks. It was really amazing to talk to the designers themselves and learn more about their inspiration, dreams and journey. The Belgian fashion world is still growing, and thanks to those designers, our mark in the international industry is getting bigger. Hopefully, Belgium will be recognized as one icon of fashion influencer :D

We want to give a shoutout to VAN WILDER who was extremely kind and supporting towards young dreamers like us. He told us his struggles and the experiences he went through to be able to launch this year his collection inspired by Japanese wardrobe. An unisize clohting line for men and women that embraces a chic, modern and still casual look for everyday's life.
As we said, BFD is such an opportunity to discover new brands and talents. We didn't attended all activities like the Gala des créateurs, the afterwork party, the cocktail drink, etc... But still, we had the chance to converse with the main representatives of the stores!

Other brands present: madameLOL, Mandel, Ocean Couture Always in Style, Une part de bonheur, Habille ton col, Modesign Academy, maurice, NØ SEASØN, Lambott, Conni Kaminski, Ataman, Catalina Jitaru, Little Panama, Anais croisiaux, Euphoria Styling BVBA, TRAMA, Blush, Designer Creations, Erratum, LLC, MarieVanGilsFashionDesigner, Câpres & Anchois, Atelier Nålebinding, Valérie Moreau , An Buermans Label.

Finally, we wrapped up the day with the afternoon fashion show of Satuday! Beginning with Zalando, we also have seen the collection of Natan Couture, Louise Assomo, Christian Wijnants & Veronique Branquinho. The place where the runway happened was on the first fllof of the Square-Brussels Meeting Center. It was inside a very big plenary (probably can contain about a thousand people). We didn't have good seats, we were on the left wing of the podium at the back. Thanksfully, the podium was in a T shaped, so we could still see the clothes from a closer view! At the end, the show has lasted about 1 hour (with some delay) but it was such an incredible experience for amateurs like us! :D

Next article and video will be about the outfits that we wore that day, so stay tuned for more!
Love,
Jenni & Mae.
